A
Message from Pastor Troy Schmidt
Rev. Troy Schmidt will be installed November 16th as Senior Pastor of
Gethsemane Lutheran Church and School, 1035 E. Guadalupe Rd, in south Tempe. Pastor Troy was ordained
in 2004 and since has served as associate pastor at Gloria Dei, one of the largest churches in
Houston, TX. A native of Michigan, he has a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary,
St. Louis and a B.A. from Concordia University, Austin, TX. He and his wife Cristy have two
daughters, Haley and Avery.
Pastor Greg Finke, senior pastor at Gloria Dei Lutheran, noted "What
I like best about Pastor Troy Schmidt is that he actually seeks the Kingdom of God and has a great
time as he is doing it! He watches for the Kingdom, waits for it, and submits to it when it comes.
Because he has discovered what happens when a person authentically gets up and follows Jesus each day,
his messages are real. Pastor Troy gets life and he can help you get it too."
Commenting on his arrival here at Gethsemane, Pastor Troy says "I am
excited about joining the people of Gethsemane, together we will seek to be the church God has called
us to be. I love working with others who desire not just to go to church, but to discover the power
of following Jesus out into the world. What a great place this will be to do that."
Please stay tuned for Pastor Troy's personal message which will be included
here very shortly. God's blessings!
